Piolets d’or

!!! Due to weather conditions, the Piolets d’Or event has been moved to Bourg d’Oisans, at the municipal community center !!!

They aim to share the passion for mountaineering with the widest possible audience and, to that end, highlight adventures undertaken in a fascinating natural environment, where mountaineers seek fulfillment grounded in sportsmanship, respect for the natural environment and local cultures, in accordance with the principles set forth in the Piolets d’Or Charter.
More than just recognition of a performance, the Piolets d’Or celebrate a commitment, a spirit, and values. The spirit of the Piolets d’Or draws its inspiration from the history of mountaineering and the authenticity of the rope team spirit. Style must take precedence over the achievement of the objective. It is no longer about reaching the summit at any cost, by resorting to financial or technical aids (oxygen, fixed ropes, high-altitude porters, “performance-enhancing” substances, etc.) or significant human resources (high-altitude porters, sherpas). The Piolets d’Or celebrate imagination in the search for innovative routes, the most economical use of resources, the application of experience, and respect for people and nature. They are committed to making mountaineering a shared and globally valued asset, capable of uniting the best of human ambition around moral values and exemplary conduct.

On the schedule:
- Friday, October 23:
* 11 a.m. > 6 p.m.: Exhibition featuring institutional and nonprofit partners, small book fair, and book signings.
* 2:30 p.m. > 4:30 p.m.: Presentation of award-winning climbs.
* 6 p.m.: Piolets d’Or awards ceremony
* 8:30 p.m. > 11:30 p.m.: Dinner, concert, DJ set.

- Saturday, October 24:
* 11 a.m. > 6 p.m.: Exhibition featuring institutional and nonprofit partners, small book fair, and book signings.
* 11:00 a.m.: Roundtable discussion on performance and professionalization: the impact of the development of high-performance sports in each discipline (climbing, trail running, alpine skiing) as well as professionalization on the evolution of “high-altitude mountaineering.” Featuring, among others, Benjamin Védrines, Nicolas Jean, Symon Welfringer, James Price, Ethan Berma...
* 6:00 PM: drinks and after-party
