of silence, worry, absence, and war.
About : Spectacle « 1945 : Prisonniers de guerre, retour de captivité »
The sons have now been released from the
prisoner-of-war camps in Germany, the Stalags. They are returning… But what will we find of those
who left? And what remains of those who stayed behind?
The show blends original texts, prisoners’ letters, personal accounts, poems, and
songs from the era to recount the postwar period from an intimate perspective. The aim here is not
to reenact History with a capital “H,” but to give voice to its whispers, its silences,
the traces left on bodies, in words, and in family ties.
The performance is a tribute to the invisible, the forgotten, and those who survived quietly
and without glory. It is a sensitive portrait of memory, loss, resilience, and the
difficulty of reunions, which touches the heart deeply through its accuracy, its modesty, and its
universality.
This production is the third installment of a theatrical trilogy centered on the Resistance, conceived
and directed by Roland Monon, in collaboration with Thérèse Aymoz, Louise Cavagna,
and Dominique Maurice. It follows “Women of the Resistance,” which was performed in 30 towns (2022), and
“Foreign Resistance Fighters in Isère” (2024).
